Legal Question in Family Law in Florida

Divorce question

My husband and I have separated. We have been

married for almost 14 years. We do not have children

but have two properties. I want to know what the Florida

law is on alimony to wives without children. Also, how

long does it take to get a divorce if it is rather ''simple?''

Re: Divorce question

There is not enough information to give much specifity to your answer, ie your earning capacity, your spouse's capacity, ages, marital plans for retirement, assets owned individually or to be received in an equitable distribution of marital assets in the divorce. Florida's alimony statute establishes a presumption for alimony for marriages of 15 yrs or longer. It establishes no presumption for marriages between 5-15 yrs in duration. So it is possible to receive alimony and the lack of children is irrelevant to your case. Call me or my partner Tom Wheeler for a telephone consult if you'd like.
