Legal Question in Family Law in Florida

Family law in Florida

My niece has lived with her boyfriend for 15 years. She has a 5 year old son with him. Although, she has never reported it to the police, her boyfriend is emotionally and physically abusive. She wants to leave her boyfriend and move to Tennessee. Can she do this?

Re: Family law in Florida

Can She? Yes, she can move. She may have to submit to a Florida court if her boyfriend decides he wants to pursue custody.

If she is in an abusive relationship I would suggest she seek refuge in a women's shelter or some place similar prior to moving. She should be able to get counseling and legal advice regarding her situation.
