Legal Question in Family Law in Florida

Where can I look up Florida laws effecting a wife who has not held a full time job in 7 years, when her husband abandons her and their 3 small children, files for divorce, stops paying the mortgage and threatens to file bankruptcy, given that they had filed joint taxes for 10 years? I'm not really sure where to begin but I don't have money for a lawyer. All I really have is internet access and I need a specific place to start.

At this point, if the marriage is not salvageable, the wife needs to respond to the divorce petition. In her petition, she can ask for alimony as well as child support. The husband has a legal right to file for bankruptcy, but just because he files doesn't mean it will be approved by the court (especially if his income is more than his debts). Certain things like child support, judgements, and student loans, etc can never be placed in bankruptcy and clearly the husband in this situation is not aware of that. Also, he can be forced to sell assets to pay the wife a lump-sum of alimony.

I am very reasonable with prices and working out payment plans for individuals in dire need. If youd like to schedule a telephone or email legal consultation, please do not hesitate to contact me.
