Legal Question in Family Law in Florida

Hello,

I have been married less than one year. However, my husband has become increasingly verbally abusive since our wedding day. As well, he is financially abusive and I have no access to funds and he controls me in every way because of this. I have been documenting this abuse to the best of my ability and even contacted an abuse hotline for help. Therefor, I would like to divorce him before the situation gets worse. However, he is French, I am a Floridian, and we are currently living in Germany and I am unable to work here. Which leads me to my questions:

1. As Florida has a 6 month residency requirement to file, will I have to wait 6 months once returning to Florida to file since we are currently living overseas? I still have a Florida drivers license, voter registration, and continue to receive mail at my old home as my parents are currently living there.

2. Even though we have only been married a short time, am I still entitled to alimony payments? He made me quit my job, sell all my furniture, sell my car, and have nothing left to my name in order to move to Germany to be with my husband only to find out that he is abusive. Therefore, if I return to Florida, I will be completely broke and without anything.

3. My husband has large amounts of money stashed in bank accounts all over the world. Am I entitled to any of that money? If so, will it be hard to access since some of it in not located within the USA?

Thank you.

1. You have to re-establish residency in FL for 6 months

2. This is not an alimony case

3. You do not get any of his pre-marital accounts (unless he put your name on them).
