Legal Question in Family Law in Florida

Please help.

My husband went to court with his X wife in May of 2013 and he paid in full his child support that was owed, we have the documents and the case was closed. He no longer owes anything, his son is 23. We have now received a letter from Social Security that they will and they have deducted the child support payment that he was making from his Social Security check, he does not owe this any more...we cant get anyone to listen or tell us who to speak with. He called Child support they recognized that he is paid in full, but they also sent a the letter to Department of revenue. We moved from Florida to Tenn and cant run down to the office there. What do we do?

Go to your local SS office with all your proof.

If you have an order that says he owes no more support then show it to the Social Secirty Office. Either in person or through the mail.

I hate to be flippant but you have a mess. SS will generally not accept any document you give them under the general assumption that you created the document on your home computer and are trying to defraud them. They will continue to follow the order they received from Child Support until they get a new Order from that Agency saying to not collect the money any longer. I recommend contacting either the Florida Dept of Revenue or your prior member of Congress and basically beg. You need to move as fast as possible as any money sent by SS to Florida is gone, it will not be returned by the Agency, even thou they have no right to it, Mom never gets it, it just seems to disappear into some corner of the bureaucracy; no one admits getting it but you lose it.
