Legal Question in Family Law in Florida

I live in Florida and allowed my 16 yr old daughter to visit her maternal grandmother who resides in RI the same state as my daughters mother. She was suppose to return 3 days ago and hasn't and will no longer respond to calls. She's decided she wants to stay there. The police in RI are willing to pick her up if we report her as a runaway or missing from Fl. But Florida says she left with permission and at the time the permission period ended she was in Ri so Ri must report her as missing. Neither state will report her as runaway or missing. What should we do. There is no formal custody agreement but she has resided with me in fl for the last 6-7 years. What should I do next?

Since neither of you went to court to formalize this situation, you will need to speak with an attorney as to what you can and can not do. I suspect you are the bio dad and was not married to the bio mom. If that is the case, you may not be able to do much about this. However, again, contact a family law attorney as to possibly bringing her back to Florida without the necessity of a Court Order or police involvement.
