Legal Question in Family Law in Florida

lovers and child visitation

My soon to be ex-husband has moved to Maine with his lover and they are living together..we are in the courts now waiting. If the kids visit him in Maine can his lover sleep over during his visitation with his kids. I recently went to child parenting class and was told by the counsler this was a law that the lover could not sleep over while the kids were with him.

Re: lovers and child visitation

No generallaw prohibits the described specific conduct. However, the court may have issued a temporary order barring such conduct and you can include in the final judgment or marital settlement agreement a provision barring such conduct as part of the provisions governing visitation. Such terms are difficult to enforce but may be appropriate based on the age of the child.
