Legal Question in Family Law in Florida

We are married. 8 years ago my spouse had an "UN-planned" baby. Although the biological father is on the baby's birth certificate, we don't know of his whereabouts and he left the baby after few months. That was in the country of Peru. My spouse and the baby (our daughter) we have been living together since she was 2 years old (she is now 9). We are US citizens. We learn awhile ago (years ago) that the biological father emigrated (may be Spain) but he never care for the baby and we don't anything about him. My spouse will like to claim sole custody as the mother. And I will like to legally adopt my daughter. Advise please?

Retain an attorney familiar with adoption proceedings. Attempts must be made to notify the natural mother and father. Call your local Bar Association. Good luck.

Too complex to attempt to answer. You really need to see an attorney who is knowledgeable in International Adoptions. Caution, this may be a time consuming and expensive matter.
