Legal Question in Family Law in Florida

I am a mother of a 16 years old autistic child. His father wants child support to end when he finishes high school. Knowing that my son will be living with me for years after that, can I and for child support to go past 18 until the age of 25 or until he moves out of my home?

You can take him back to court - I suggest you do so now in order to resolve this issue before the child is 18. Depending on the severity of the autistism will depend on whether he will have to pay for his care. If your child is able to work a job and care for himself - then the support may not be forthcoming. However, once his ssd kicks in - he will have an income and maybe can be offset by an amount that bio dad will have to pay. You need to speak with an attorney and resolve this.

You might want to mention to bio dad that you would be willing to share living for this child - you have him one half of the year and he keeps him the other half of the year. His year beginning first.
