Legal Question in Family Law in Florida

I ask question last week about father's inlaw home. He said when they buy the house both on their names is on the property. Theyve been together for 5 yrs after that the wife left him and dad inlaw pays the mortgage by himself wife never pay anything after leaving him. When my dad inlaw filed for divorce he didnt include the house as marital property. My question is, is there a way to get rid of exwife name on the title its been 20 yrs since she left my inlaw we coudnt locate her because we dont know where she is we dont know any family she got either.Thank for a quick answer on my previous question.

You should hire a private investigator to locate her. You can call Social Security and give them her SS number and ask if she is still living. They will not give you an address but they will allow you to mail them a letter that they will forward. It will be up to her to respond. If she is deceased, they will tell you and then give you other information. You MUST locate her to show the court due diligence. The house can be put in your father in law's name only since he has been make the payments and taxes etc. He may be able (not saying that it will work) he can file for adverse possession of the property. IN the state of Florida, as long as you have handled the property for 7 years you may be able to qualify for this.
