Legal Question in Family Law in Florida

My step son is 17 and wants to live with me because his mother has left me. We live in florida, can he choose to live with me and if so, will his mother continue to receive the child support for him from his biological father?

Whether he can live with you likely depends on his mother's wishes, his best interests, and whether you filed any paper work with the court to legally adopt him while you were married to his mother.

If he does end up living with you exclusively, everything would likely change in regard to child support. However, because of the child's age, this may be something that the mother would not object to.
