Legal Question in Family Law in Florida

Stepparent adoption/ child support

My husband and I are in the process of him adopting my children from my first marriage. We were told that once they are legally adopted that my ex would still be responsible for child support until they are 18. Is this true?

It is not true. Once your husband adopts, your ex is no longer responsible for ongoing support, though your ex would still be responsible for any back supprt. In fact, if you and your new husband were to divorce and you were to get custody of the kids, your new husband would have to pay child support even though the kids are not biologically his.
