Legal Question in Family Law in Florida

Summons

If you are served a summons, I know that you have 20 days to respond. Does that mean you have to respond by a counter petition and serve the other party involved? Does that mean you have to notify the court in that amount of time? If you were served on November 17th, does that mean you have to respond by December 7th or 8th? I am just not sure whether they count the day you were served. Thanks.

Re: Summons

They do not count the day you were served. All of the instructions for responding are included on the summons. Read it carefully. 20 days from November 17 is December 7 which is a Sunday making the due date Monday December 8.
