Legal Question in Medical Leave in Florida

My father is in the hospital. I would like to go out for 2 weeks to get him stable when he's released from the hospital. I have 500 hours of sick time on the books. I would like to use 172 hours to take care of my dad is this possible or is it at the discression of my department?

What does your employees manuals say about use of sick or pto time? For FMLA, your employer has to have at least 50 employees. Let me know if you have further quesiotns.
