Need to take fmla for parent

Hi, my father was hospitalized for seizure and phenmonia and he is in critcal care. The doctors expect him to be ok but it is very difficult. I am working and my father lives over 3000 miles away. Im not sure if i can take fmla for this, I plan to be gone for a couple of weeks and he may need care when he gets out of the hospital.
