Buying from a personal ad
I recently purchased a used washer and dryer. In the ad it stated that both were fully functional and in good condition. When I took the appliances home both were not fully functional. The washer was leaking water and the dryer was extremely loud and had a awful burning smell.
I attempted to call the guy in regards to this at his shop and haven't received any return calls. My question is is this suitable to file a suit against the saleman?

No. The salesman works for the shop. Your complaint should be against the shop and the corporation or individual who owns it. If you must file suit, you should file it against the owner (individual or corporation, whichever is appropriate).
