Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Florida

name calling by verizon customer service

I had an issue with Verizon, I had just got my air card from them and with in approx 45 days they came out with a net pad. I called and asked about possibility of an up grade, well the only thing they would do would cancel current plan and start a new one! When asked if they would work with me, it was just no. A couple of weeks later I called and tried again with same results, but this time I asked about a rebate that was due to me. I was told there was no record of it and I should resubmit it. I just hung up. When I received my last statement there was a charge for a text message. Ive never sent or gave anyone my air card number. Curiosity got the best of me, Ive already been billed for it ($0.20) and I wasnt going to spent anytime with there customer service cause the last time the CSR was very rude and condescending towards me. So I open the text and it read Hey loser;] dont forget to say bye. I have this info saved and really have to wonder about my safety but my family now that CSR not only has my private number but home address also! Not sure if VERIZON trains their personal to behave in this manner?

Re: name calling by verizon customer service

I hear your frustration, but I don't see a legal issue here.

You could read your service plan to know if there are some additional options for changing your service plan. You could cancel your contract with Verizon and sign on with a different provider.

Customer service's actions, even if you could prove they sent you a text message, do not violate any law. You could submit a complaint to the company regarding their service department.

If you feel you have been the victim of consumer fraud, you can report your complaint to the State of Florida Attorney General's Office. www.myfloridalegal.com
