Filed Lawsuits in any or specific states

IS there any resource available (besides lxis-nexis or westlaw) that is free or cheap that allows a user to search a database to check for lawsuits that have been filed, pending, closed, etc. against an individual or a company.

Generally you need to check with the clerk of court for the county where the individual resides or where the business conducts its activities. I am unaware of any central database that keeps law suit filing information. Good Luck.
