Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Florida

leins

we recently sold our home.my mother is now claiming to file a lein on our new home for monnies she claims I owe. I have a cancelled check for 1500.00 for which I have paid to her. She says I owe her another 2000.00. She has contacted the entire family for which I am receiving nasty mail over. I told her I will, and have already sent the first of 20 payments in the amount of 100.00. She is refusing it. Can she in fact place a lein on our home? This is an embarassing situation. She dislikes my husband and is very upset that I have started a relationship with my real father. We sold our old home for 38K and owed 29K for which we paid up. I paid off credit cards we over extended to to the fact our house did not sell. Therefore, we we're paying two mortgages. What is left over is not much. I receive mean hate mail from her everyday. What can I do with this situation. I am paying her back monthly and have no problem with doing so. She is an old woman with many issues and I need to know how to handle this.

Thank you

Re: leins

Your mom should not be able to file a lien against you property without probable cause. Did you execute a mortgage or any other instrument in her favor for the money owed? If you would like to chat free of charge give me a call at 877-891-8152. Good luck.
