Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Florida

stolen boat

a buddy of mine asked me to move in with him. His name was on the lease. It was a house and we were to split rent and utilities. Ibrought my boat with me and park it in the back yard. Things started going down hill after 6 months his drinking got worse and he was evicted. Before he removed his stuff i was allowed to stay for 2 more weeks. On my return from work one day my boat was gone. Of coarse he had no idea where it was. MY Question is because his name was on the lease does he share responsibilty for my stolen $4,000 bass tracker and can i take any action against him

Re: stolen boat

Nope -- just because he rented (or even owned) the house does not make him liable for property that is stolen from the property. You would need to show that he stole it or was somehow negligent in allowing it to be stolen.
