Tools being held by former employer

A former employer is in posession of my tools needed to perform my work. ie painting cars. I owe this employer money not from work but on a personal loan. He will not release my tools until I pay him nor will he let me on the property advising he will have me arressted. What are my options?

Call the police, if they cannot help, consult with an attorney about filing in court to get your property returned to you.

He cannot keep the tools. If he does not allow you to have your property, notify the police.
