As is waranty
I bought a used car from a private owner and the transmission went out the next day isnt there a lemon law or a 30 day return law

No -- there no 30 day return right unless that is expressly provided by the contract. The lemon law applies to new cars, not used.

Not on used cars. If you bought "as is" then you are probably out of luck. However, you could try to argue that the seller knew of the problem and hid it from you if you have any evidence to support it.
