Legal Question in Immigration Law in Florida

I am still awaiting approval of my M-1 extension, the original expired in April so I am still of legal status but my authorized stay has expired based on my visa.

Question:

My wife (U.S. citizen) is filing an I-130 for me, and I need to know if we can file the I-485 at the same time, in order to change my status from M-1? OR Do we have to wait for my M-1 visa extension to be granted and hence my Authorized stay be extended.

ie. File i-130+ i-485 Now... OR have to wait for extension answer?
