C1D viza

I have 8 years since I live here. I came with a C1D visa and I have heard if I married a Cuban person with residence I can get my Residence as well.Is that true? Please help.

Dear Inquirer:

No, that is not true. C-1/D visa holders are generally ineligible to adjust status to green card in the US. If you qualify under section 245(i), which requires that you were the beneficiary of an immigrant visa petition or labor certification application filed on or before April 30, 2001 at the latest, you may be eligible to adjust status. Note that there is a long wait to obtain immigrant status through a permanent resident spouse, as opposed to a US Citizen spouse.
