Legal Question in Intellectual Property in Florida

copyright infringement or fair use?

I'm a teacher and made up a song for ''challenging'' behavior for students to learn how to make better choices. I bought the Instrumental version of Justin Timberlake's ''Bringin Sexy Back''. Using section :24-1:08 of the song I fabricated, ''Bringin Choices back''. I am attaching the song below. Would this be fair use or do I need to get permission. I have tried to contact Sony BMG, Jive Records, and Zomba with no results.

Bringing CHOICEs Back

C*H*O*I*C*E

Take a look and tell me what you see.

I’m making choices that are right for me,

‘cause Summerfield is where I wanna be.

C- A Caring student

H- High Expectations

O- Only use kind words

I- I am an Indian

C- I know that I can

E- Set an example

Thank you,

Re: copyright infringement or fair use?

It depends on the use you anticipate for the song but the short answer is that you will probably need permission from whoever holds the rights to the parts of the song you use.
