Legal Question in Employment Law in Florida

I took 2 days of my vacation time and a sick day because I really was sick and I have proof, then a week later I got fired but they are saying that I quit and now they don't want to pay me my 2 vacation days or my sick day. Is that legal? And I can't file unemployment because they're trying to say that I quit. What can I do? It's a small company. Th boss is the owner and the company only consist of about 10 employees.

Florida is considered an "at will" state which means that an employer can fire you for any reason so long as it is not based upon race, religion, age. However, you should apply for unemployment compensation regardless of what your employer says. While your employer may dispute your entitlement to unemployment benefits, you will be given an oppurtunity to state your position and you can argue that you did not quit.
