Legal Question in Employment Law in Florida
Contract that has expired in April 2004
Hi,
I signed up a contract with somebody in October 03 to do some jobs on his website .That contract got expired in
April 04.
That person is threatening me now in July 04 giving reference to that contract and asking me to do some more jobs on his website by this month end or give him back half of the money he paid to me.
Is it posible for him to do some legal action against me based on that contract which has expired now.
He has just paid me 2000/- $for his work in six months and asking for 1000$ back.It is a small project and he sent me his terms as a contract already signed by him which I signed and faxed him back in Nov2003.
Please advice.

Re: Contract that has expired in April 2004
The contract and facts would have to be reviewed for a more detailed response from an attorney. But if you fulfilled the original terms, and it did indeed expire and you have no additional responsibility under it, then the person does not have a legitimate claim against you. That does not mean that he can't sue. But it does mean you could defend and win the suit. Of course, it is expensive and time-consuming to sue, so chances are you will not be sued over a small amount. (And if it is as clear cut as you say, no attorney would represent the other person.)
Good luck.
