Can my pay be reduced because of a temporary medicial problem?

I was just promoted to manage a larger store. Two days later I found I had to have surgery that will keep me away from work for about a month. They want to move me to a smaller store as a result of this . Will I loose my pay increse?

Depending on the specific facts of your situation, you may be eligible for leave under the Family and Medical Leave Act(FMLA) If your employer is covered under the Act and you are not a "key" employee, it may be illegal for them to reduce your pay and move you to a smaller store.
