Legal Question in Employment Law in Florida

I was recently terminated from my job when my employer found out I have an 8 year old felony. I did not lie to her about it when I was hired, because she never asked. Was i required to disclose it? I am having difficulty getting assistance with my rent now because she is saying that I failed to disclose it on my application. However, there was never an application at all! Any advice?

If it was not on the application and you were not directly asked I do not believe you had a duty to disclose this information. You may be able to collect unemployment benefits. If your employer knew of this history before and didn't mind at the time, it may be being used as a pretextual reason for your termination when discrimination may be at the forefront. If you feel this is the case you should speak to an employment/discrimination attorney as soon as possible.
