Legal Question in Employment Law in Florida

I cannot get unemployment:

I worked as a graphic designer for a real estate magazine in Bradenton, FL from March 2002 - November 2009. During the year of 2009 my boss/owner dumped the payroll company and paid me from her own checking account and cut my hours severely. She then ceased production of the magazine in Nov '09. I have tried to collect some sort of unemployment compensation for the 8 years that I worked for this magazine, but I have been rejected no matter what I do. My former boss has no advice for me and doesn't understand why I have been rejected.

I have been actively looking for work all year. I have absolutely no income whatsoever and no prospects at this time.

Is there anything I can do at all?

My bet is your former employer did not pay any unemployment taxes, so the State does not show you worked for her. Tell her you want to see the employment tax returns showing she paid Florida Unemployment taxes. They are probably not giving you unemployment because you dont show sufficient wage credits. if she does not help out, then sue her.
