Legal Question in Employment Law in Florida

Unpaid wages

I work for a company based in RI but live in FL. My employer has yet to pay me approx. $20,000.00 in unpaid wages and expenses. My employer actually agrees that the company owes this money to me, but I cant seem to get them to actually pay up. If I had to file suit against my company, what state would I file it in? Am I allowed to sue for more than the amount that I am owed (other than legal fees...Damages??)?

Re: Unpaid wages

It depends on your employment agreement. If you signed a contract the document may contain a provision for where and how any disputes are handled. Where the case is, or can be, filed will also determine what remedies are available to you.

You should consult an attorney to determine your options. You should feel free to call my office or email me with any further questions.
