Legal Question in Employment Law in Florida

Wage Deductions

is it legal to take back commissions on sales if my customer gets behind on paying their bill? example ; if someone is in the 61-90 day column for $1000, my company takes the commission i made on this sale back out of my pay. if i made 10% on the sale , they now take that 10% out of my pay check. Remember i am straight commission. if the $1000 is paid by the customer within 30 days of the dedution then i get the commission back . if not, i loose it for good. this co. is doing this nationwide. is this legal?

Re: Wage Deductions

It depends. Do you have a contract? Does the contract provide for this procedure? If so, it may not be illegal.
