If you work over 40 hours in one week does your employer have to pay overtime?

It depends on your classification- if you are exempt or non-exempt. The Fair Labor Standards Act determines who gets time and a half for work over 40 hours in a workweek. There are several factors such as if you are paid hourly or salary; what are your primary job duties; if you are a supervisor, etc.
