Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Florida

Apartment Lease Agreements - Multi-Tenant

When two people sign a lease agreement for an Apartment (1 yr lease), and one of the tenants moves out without cause, are they still liable for any part of the lease? If not, can the remaining tenant take the other to small claims court for reimbursement?

RESPONSE: generally the answer is yes to both questions and you would sue your co-tenant for their portion of the lease payment and should try to somehow mitigate your damages e.g. by trying to get another roomate.
