Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Florida

My boyfriend and I are living in the house that his mom owns and his name is also on the house so it wouldn't get taken from his mother for some reason. I paid the land taxes for this yr and she is trying to sell the house with us living in it and I would like to know if she can do this.

Hi. If your boyfriend is a deeded owner of the house with his mother, then his mother will have a hard time selling without her son's cooperation. Since her son is also an owner, he must also sign the deed to a new buyer. Mother needs son to jointly sign the deed when it comes time to transfer the property to a potential buyer.

You have no rights to the home except for your occupancy rights that can be easily terminated. You dont have rights to the property for just paying the taxes so you may want to figure out how to get your name on the property too.
