carpenter ants

im i am renting a house from a realtor an there is a major problem with ants in the house shouldnt they have to do something about it not myself?

You could do something about it yourself, but you can't deduct any rent for it. The only thing you can do is give the landlord seven days notice by mail (certified is best) or hand delivery saying that, after the seven days is up, you will start substracting one day's rent for every day the pest control problem is not corrected.
