Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Florida

Why is my landlord charging me?

My landlord first charged me for half of a new ac when the 13 year old one refused to blow cold air. In lease it only requires me to keep the filter clean and to do minor repairs. In this case it was cheaper to buy a new one.

Then when the gas connector to the stove cracked she charged

me again. Where does old age and normal wear and tear come

in place, it's not like I broke anything so why should I

have to pay for it. Isn't the landlord required to provide

you with a functioning ac in Fl. it's not like I can take

it with me when I leave. Thanks in advance.

Re: Why is my landlord charging me?

You have to look at the lease for maintenance obligations. There is any requirement that the landlord must provide you with A/C in Florida. As for normal wear and tear, it depends; but fight back the landlord only after reading your lease.
