Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Florida

Can my old landlord sue my former roommate for breaking our lease, even though I stayed until my lease was up and payed the full amount until then?

My wife and I rented an apartment and we added a roommate a few months later. The rent did not increase and he was added to our lease. He moved out before our lease came due but we stayed and continued to pay the full amount until then, never falling behind. We only moved out after the lease was up and we never missed a rent payment. Can our old landlord sue us or our former roommate for anything? The apartment was in fine shape when we left and he even gave us a document saying it was and he would not charge us for anything concerning damage to the apartment.

Can your old landlord sue you for anything? Apparently not for failure to pay rent. Have you are your former roommate been served with court papers? If so and you would like to schedule a consultation, call my law office at (813) 951-6187

It sounds like you completely fulfilled the lease terms. Unless there is a provision in the lease that stated it would increase with another roommate and you did not pay those amounts, I would not think there is a claim to be made.
