Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Florida

My lease is set to expire 2/28/13. I got a renewal letter on 1/25/13 with an increase in rent which was expected. Today 1/30/13, I received another renewal letter dated 1/25/13 with another increase in rent if I choose to renew. Can the landlord keep increasing my rent until I renew or move out of the apartment.

Rental agreements are contracts and until they are signed by both parties the terms can change. If you recieved one offer and did not accept it, the. You recieved a second offer with different terms then it is deemed that the first offer has been recinded or taken back and or has expired. Yes, until you renew the terms can continue to change. If you are going to renew you should have already given your landlord notice, probably per the expiring lease, if you went back and looked at it. If you are going to renew I would sign a lease as soon as possible or you may loose that option and have to move anyway. If you are not going to renew to save any deposit you have you need to carefully read your lease for a notice clause or if you don't give proper notice you may fortiet some or all of your deposit.

Prior answer is very comprehensive. I have one other thing to consider. Does your current lease state anything about what the renewal rental will be? If it does then the offer and acceptance need to comply with that prior agreement of the parties.
