Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Florida

i have made an agreement with the caretaker to live at an apartment. i told him that when my boss paid me i would give him his rent money.after three weeks my boss is refusing to pay me now my landlord tells me that my wife and i are squatting and was going to call the sheriff department to evict us with out having to file legal papers in court even though we had a verbal agreement.can he do this?

Without a written agreement you have no proof of your arrangement.
