Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Florida

i moved into my apartment on june 11. my lease has a date of june 1. my landlord is trying to make me pay the water bill dated may 19-june 23. can he legally make me pay the portion of the bill from may 19-may 31? if not please let me know what i can do to protect my rights. also i didnt even pay my deposit until june 11 much less move in. in fact i hadnt even been told i qualified for the apartment prior to the 11th.

There is absolutely no reason why you should be responsible for the cost of water prior to the date you moved in.
