Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Florida

Renewal Lease

I told my tenants that I would not hold them to the renewal lease if they found a house to buy. I knew they were looking. When I got the renewal lease back they had written at the bottom of the lease that I had agreed to not hold them to the lease if they found a house to buy. Did this void the lease?

Re: Renewal Lease

It is technically a counteroffer. I don't understand the problem, though. They just put in writing what you promised. Your verbal promise was unenforceable, so it needs to be in writing. You didn't intend to stiff them, did you?
