Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Florida

rental fee

Dear Sir; I live in a townhouse in Plantation, florida and we also have a association fee or rent each month. My question is; our fee is do on the first of the month, we have until the 10th. of the month to pay and after the 10th. there is a $25.00 late fee. Can the persident call us on the 13th. of the month looking for the money, and then again on the 20th. of the month? Isn't this harassment when this is done before 30 days? I lived in N.Y. and I was a land-lord, we could not as for the rent until after the thirty days. Also my husband travels, and he was away for his job. He has never missed a payment, but he did include the $25 late fee. Thank you so much for your time,we appreciate it.

sincerely,

Mr. and Mrs. Alfonso

Actually, a landlord can ask for the rent on the date it is due. There is no requirement to wait any length of time. If your lease has a grace period, it is customary to wait until the grace period has expired but it is not required. Frankly, the lease probably also provides for a $25.00 late fee if late and then an additional fee after a certain period which would kick in before the 20th day. If you only paid a $25.00 late fee, you probably did not pay the entire late fee.
