Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Florida

Renting an apartment

I made a post on craigslist looking for an apartment. I received an email about an apartment but the owner is living in another state and she has the keys with her. She stated that her husband is in west Africa on a Christian mission and cannot send the keys to anybody here (FL) so I can see the apartment. She has sent me pictures of the apartment and one of her and her husband. Is it common to have people do that? I'm worried that it might be a type of scam. How can I be sure?

Re: Renting an apartment

Sounds like a scam. I am selling my mother in laws house. Someone noticed it for lease on craigslist.. When i e-mailed pretending to be interested in my property, I got the same line. It is a scam. If they can't physically show you the property to you, stay away.
