Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Florida

I have been renting for since oct 2010.. I just found out that the owner has not paid his mortgage for the past 3 months and he has been collecting rent he also wants to collect for this month and he told me that he is doing a loan modification if the bank does not help him or he does not get an answer in a month he will be doing a short sale and told me not to worry and then told me he understands if i want to leave and he will give me my deposit back only...I want to know if I am entitled to any of that money back and also do I have to continue to give him the money for the rent for this month or just wait until what happens with him and his bank...

you are not entitled to a rent refund. you have a lease agreement with the landlord and you must abide or he can evict you. what goes on in financial world is none of your concern. If the house goes for a short sale and you continue to live there and pay your rent, then the lender will contact you as to lease agreement. YOu can stay on the property for the term of the lease.
