Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Florida

Sexual Harassment

This guy in Florida was renting out rooms and I rented out the room in his backyard. Unfortunately, the landlord had a problem keeping his hands off of me, and I had to leave because I was too uncomfortable. I was re-embursed for the rent (though he said we weren't paying rent; but utilities so he wouldn't have to claim taxes), but my experience was traumatic. I have opportunities in Miami, but am too afraid to go back because of what happened. Help? Anything I can do legally? It's been a few months now...

If you do not agree, then stop right here, and do not read any further.

I am not sure what you are seeking to find out. Miami is a big city and is in an even larger metropolitan area. You can certainly avoid him if you were to return.

When you say he could not keep his hands off of you, I presume he did things that you are now wanting to be compensated for. Although you might be able to file a complaint with the police, without knowing more about what happened, I cannot say what if any rights you might have for damages against him. Of course, he would argue you could have vacated the premises earlier if you felt he violated your personal rights.
