Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Florida

I was told by the manager of where I'm living at Exteneded Stay America I would not have worry about a rate increase for the upcoming Republican National Convention. This promise was mde verbally by the hotel manager. Now she touts that they're not honoring that agreement. Granted there was NO WRITTEN agreement, can they do this? I have been residing here since 4SEP10. I also have been here long enough to be tax exempt, and sign monthly rental contracts with them. I feel betrayed as they're now, (in my eyes) dishonest.
