Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Florida

I had a verbal agreement with my roommates that I would pay a total of $600 for first and last months rent and $200 security deposit prior to move in. My roommate told me as long as I do not damage anything I am able to get my deposit back once I move out. When I moved in, my roommates brought 2 pitbulls that were territorial and extremely aggressive. I moved out after not even living in the condo for a month because the dogs kept trying to attack me and my friends. Now I am requesting $500 that is owed to me; $300 for one month's rent and $200 security deposit. I lived in the condo from 06/18/2011 to 07/15/2011. Do I have a valid case against my roommates?
