Withholding reimbursement for utilities
Vacating my previous residence 2 months ago, I received half my security deposit, after walkthrough, and was to receive compensation for the utilities (from a commercial duplex they should have had in there name). I forward all info to the owner and waited over a week with no contact. Then I called 3 times in 4 days and finally had to resort to harsh tones and language. This got a response within 20 min. “mentioned court.” The owner informed me; at that time, I was not to be reimbursed anything because I approached them in the wrong fashion, with my fourth request for them to call me. They then stated if I wanted to take it to court, I could try but they have proof, “pictures”, of how I left the residence. I assumed the security deposit was to cover that expense, hence the return of half after walkthrough!!
Would I have a valid case to take to small claims?
