Legal Question in Legal Ethics in Florida

Today is April 8, 2013. I received a letter from a hospital who is affiliated with a clinic that I go to. The letter informed me that...My health information that I provided to them which included my name, address, and social security number, medical record number, and location of service was inappropriately accessed due to a identity theft ring..They were informed by the IRS and State Attorney on November 1, 2012 that an individual completing a clinical rotation in May and June 2012 participated in this indentity theft ring. They were told Not to inform the patients due to their investigation...They are offering me, Free Indentity Protection...What Good is that Now when the Records were Accessed 11 months ago?
